Transferring To Bramson ORT College

Bramson ORT College
69-30 Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens NY
(718) 261-5800 / (718) 259-5300

Students enrolled in a four year college program often feel overwhelmed by the course load and the commitment that is required in order to fulfill their degree requirements. Additionally, students enrolled in a overly populated college tend to miss out on the personal experience that smaller schools bring. Since the transition from high school to college is not always simple, and since students are often not ready to commit to an extended program at such a young age, here at Bramson ORT College, we have made it our priority to create an environment where students can obtain a professional degree in an intimate setting in a shorter amount of time.

As you are reading this, are you nodding your head in agreement with the fact that your current college isn't exactly what you're looking for? Do you feel like you don't get the attention you deserve from your professors? Then it's time for you to start considering other schools!

How To Transfer:

Becoming a transfer student at Bramson ORT College is simple. First, submit your admissions application to our Admissions Office. Then, within 30 days, have a copy of your official transcript sent to our team for review. Once we have received all of your information, we'll be able to determine if previously earned credits are applicable to our course requirements for your desired program. That's it! After you've submitted the correct documentation, we take care of the rest.

Will you be using your holiday break to apply to new schools for the 2015 academic year? Make Bramson ORT College the first school on your list! Our programs range from 15-63 credits and classes are appropriately sized so that you can develop better relationships with fellow classmates and professors. Study Tips For Final Exams

Bramson ORT College
69-30 Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens NY
(718) 261-5800 / (718) 259-5300
Although this time of year is full of holiday excitement and cheer, for college students, it's also full of late night study sessions and final exams. And since the holidays make for busy schedules due to family get-togethers and other holiday happenings, finding the time to study and study right can be difficult.

At Bramson ORT College, it is our hope that all of our students do exceptionally well on their final exams this year. That's why thanks to Fastweb!, we've put together a list of study tips to help you get through this stressful time of year. Check them out below!
  1. Ask Questions: Before your final class is held, make sure you ask your professor all of your questions! After all, they know what is going to be on the exam, so if there are topics you are still unsure about, it would be in your best interest to bring them up. Chances are, other students in your class have similar concerns too.
  2. Make A Guide: Although flipping through your notebook is easy, it can also be overwhelming when studying. Instead, create a separate study guide that focuses only on the main ideas you need to know for the exam. Then, when you have time, glance over any extra material not covered so that you have a basic understanding of what's left.
  3. Test Yourself: What better way to prepare for an exam than by asking yourself potential questions? As you go through the material, take a minute to quiz yourself and ask yourself questions that you suspect your teacher will include.
  4. Know The Style: Always keep the style of the test in mind. For example, if it is going to be multiple choice format, then it's likely that you'll need to know definitions and how to apply certain concepts to situations. However, if your exam is to be an essay, then you'll want to prepare examples that pertain to the material.
  5. Pace Yourself: It can be easy to rush through the material if you know you have a lot to study for, but rushing will only hurt you. Rather than speed through your notes in a frenzy, remain calm and take your time; you may even find that creating a study schedule helps you get things done in a more timely fashion.
In addition to these tips, don't forget to get enough rest leading up to the exam. Staying up all night will make it much harder for you to focus at the time when you need to most!

Are you in the middle of preparing for final exams? If you're struggling with any of the material you're required to know, be sure to stop by the Bramson ORT College tutoring center! Our tutoring center staff would be more than happy to go over different concepts with you to ensure that you're fully prepared for the big day. To fill out a tutor request form, visit us in person or click here.

Good luck students!

This month, we'd like to offer our students a few ways that they can indulge in New York City culture while celebrating the holidays with family and friends; see below:

2. Bryant Park: Ice skating at your home ice rink is one thing, but ice skating in Bryant Park is another! Admission for this event is free; your only cost is skate rentals, locks and bag checks.

3. Radio City Christmas Show: Would you like to see the rockettes live and up close? Check out the Radio City Christmas Show at Radio Music Hall!

4. The Nutcracker: If you've grown up with the nutcracker as one of your favorite holiday stories, check out the live version at Lincoln Center!

5. FAO Schwarz: A New York City icon, FAO Schwarz is a great place to visit around the holidays; even if it's just to look at the displays!

Scholarship Reminder!

Bramson ORT College
69-30 Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens NY
(718) 261-5800 / (718) 259-5300

With 2015 and a new semester right around the corner, you might be starting to peruse through the different financial aid opportunities to determine how you will cover the cost of next year's tuition. Although there are a variety of state and federal financial aid programs available to students, unfortunately, not all who apply will qualify, which is why many students rely on additional financial aid such as scholarships.

If you're on the search for a financial aid solution that can put your mind at ease, even if just for a little while, look no further - there is still time to apply for this year's scholarships!

Bramson ORT College would like to make all incoming students aware of our very own scholarship lottery opportunity! For a limited time only, we are offering a $500 scholarship to new students registering for the 2015 spring semester. Click here to start the process. Qualified applicants will be notified of their scholarship after completing the registration process.

To learn more about the current scholarship opportunities available, please visit our Finacial Aid Office's website here or call (718) 261-5800 ext. 6103.

December Job Fairs

Bramson ORT College
69-30 Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens NY
(718) 261-5800 / (718) 259-5300
During the last year of a student's college career, their primary focus tends to be where they are going to settle down in a career after graduation. Since today's job market is especially tough to enter for young college graduates, most seniors make job searching part of their everyday routine while they are still in school. However, though it may sound easy to do a quick web search on local companies that are hiring, landing an interview and beating out the vast competition is easier said than done.

In order to help streamline the process of job searching for students, many companies and organizations host job fairs where students can meet with prospective employers face to face. This month, we are pleased to announce that there are three local job fairs taking place that Bramson ORT College students are invited to be a part of! See below for this month's job fair schedule:

Choice Career Fairs - Long Island Career Fair
When: Thursday, December 4
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Where: Melville Marriott
Register here.

IACS Diversity Job Fair - New York
When: Tuesday, December 9
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Where: New York Midtown Hilton
Register here.

National CareerFairs - New York Career Fair
When: Wednesday, December 10
11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Where: Holiday Inn Midtown
Register here.

If graduation is on your timeline for 2015, we highly recommend taking advantage of these opportunities. What better way to discover all of the possibilities that are out there than by seeing them first hand? For more information on upcoming job fairs or to speak with a career services advisor about the status of your resume prior to attending, please visit our career services center or contact us at (718) 261-5800 or (718) 259-5300! And remember - always smile, be professional, and dress to impress!

Test Taking Tips for Students

Bramson ORT College
69-30 Austin Street, Forest Hills, Queens NY
(718) 261-5800 / (718) 259-5300

Now that we are just about half way through the fall semester, it is officially time to start studying and preparing for midterms; if you haven't already, that is! When students hear the word midterm, they often tense up when they realize how much material they are about to be tested on. Furthermore, regardless of how much they have studied, many students go into their midterms with a stomach full of butterflies as the anticipation of the test alone takes over their calm sense of self - but it doesn't have to!

Here at Bramson ORT College, we understand the stress, pressure and nerves that our students feel both before and during their midterms, which is why we've compiled a list of some of the most effective test taking tips to help during this difficult time; please see below:
  1. Go into your test with a positive attitude. When you enter your classroom with a positive mind set, you are already setting yourself up for success!
  2. Avoid cramming the night before. When you overload yourself with information too close to the test, you're more likely to forget the information you've worked so hard to learn. Instead, only do a brief review of the material prior to the test.
  3. Take a few minutes to go through the test before even looking at the first question to get a feel for how you will have to manage your time. Additionally, if you look at a question and don't know the answer, don't panic! Skip it and move on, then come back to it at the end.
Are you a Bramson ORT College student that has midterms coming up? Are you having trouble with the material you are required to know and understand? Visit the tutoring center for help! At Bramson ORT College, our tutoring center staff can go over any questions you may have and help you create an effective study guide that will lead you towards success on all of your tests.

For more information or to schedule an appointment with one of our tutors, click here. Good luck to all of our students on their upcoming exams!

How To Have A Successful Start To The Semester

Are you a first time college student that recently completed their first day of classes? In honor of opening our doors to all students this past Sunday, October 5, for the first day of the fall semester, we would like to offer some tips to help you have a successful start to the semester! See below:
  1. First impressions matter! Whether you're in a class with 20 students or 200 students, your professor will be analyzing how you present yourself at the start of the semester. To make a lasting impression, we recommend arriving early, paying close attention and participating as much as possible.
  2. Know your schedule before you arrive to school. It's always better to be early, so plan accordingly to battle the parking lot traffic that may ensue and give yourself adequate time to find your classroom.
  3. Always come prepared. Students often assume that they won't need to take notes or participate in a formal lesson during the first few days, but it's always a good idea to have a pen and paper just in case.
If this is your first semester with us, we encourage you to stop by one of our offices to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about the transition into the new school year when you arrive.

And just a reminder! Registration for fall classes is open until Sunday, October 12, so be sure to register as soon as possible to solidify your spot in the classes you need. For more information on registration, visit us at www.bramsonort.edu or contact us at (718) 261-5800 for our Queens campus or (718) 259-5300 for our Brooklyn campus today!

Tips For A Successful First Year of College

Are you a college freshman who just completed or is about to complete their first day of college? As a freshman beginning a new academic journey, it's not unusual to feel nervous or anxious about what the future holds; college is a completely new experience that brings opportunities and challenges like you've never faced before.

At Bramson ORT College, we want to help make the college transition as easy and seamless as possible for you. That's why we've gathered a list of some of the top tips that college freshmen should know in order for their first year to be a success! See below:
  1. Make an effort to maintain a college budget. While it might seem like tuition is your main concern, don't forget that you will be required to purchase additional items such as textbooks throughout the year to accompany the material presented in the classroom.
  2. With a bigger workload and more responsibility, it is likely that college freshmen will experience the negative effects of stress at some point. To alleviate this stress, take proactive measures such as setting aside time to exercise and make sure you're getting enough sleep - this will not only help you feel better, but it will also help you perform better academically.
  3. Get involved in extra curricular activities. Joining clubs or attending campus events is a great way to make friends, especially if you're enrolled in a commuter college.
  4. From the start, make an effort to meet and get to know your professors. Not only will this help you become more comfortable in class, but they can also help you network and meet other students and professors that can help you in the long run.
  5. Take advantage of all the academic resources your school offers. Study groups, resource rooms and tutoring centers are there to help you succeed, so use their services to help you with any work that seems to be giving you trouble.

Financial Aid FAQs

It's no surprise that college costs are rising with each academic year, and as a result, students are overwhelmed with the stress of student loans now more than ever. Since tuition is unavoidable, many students rely on scholarships and financial aid services to help them cover the cost of their college career.

At Bramson ORT College, we understand that the process of applying for financial aid can be intimidating since you are dealing with such a large sum of money. That's why we've compiled a list of some of the top financial aid FAQs to help you get started!

Q: Where do I begin?
A: The best way to apply for federal financial aid is by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, otherwise known as FAFSA, at www.fafsa.ed.gov. In order to begin, you will need a copy of your parents' and/or your most recent federal tax return and the Bramson ORT College code number - 104662.

Q: When do I apply?
A: The sooner you file for financial aid the better. This will help you determine if and when you will have to cover any additional costs before payments are due.

Q: Am I eligible for financial aid?
A: You are eligible to apply for financial aid if you are a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen, enrolled full-time (for most financial aid programs), are not in default on a previous student loan or do not owe a refund on previously received financial aid, and have not been convicted of possessing or selling illegal drugs while receiving financial aid.

Q: What state and federal financial aid programs are available?
A: There are many financial aid opportunities for students, such as Federal Pell Grants, FSEOG, Federal Work Study, Federal Subsidized/Unsubsidized Direct Loans and the Tuition Assistance Program. For more financial aid programs, click here.
