How To Have A Successful Start To The Semester

Are you a first time college student that recently completed their first day of classes? In honor of opening our doors to all students this past Sunday, October 5, for the first day of the fall semester, we would like to offer some tips to help you have a successful start to the semester! See below:
  1. First impressions matter! Whether you're in a class with 20 students or 200 students, your professor will be analyzing how you present yourself at the start of the semester. To make a lasting impression, we recommend arriving early, paying close attention and participating as much as possible.
  2. Know your schedule before you arrive to school. It's always better to be early, so plan accordingly to battle the parking lot traffic that may ensue and give yourself adequate time to find your classroom.
  3. Always come prepared. Students often assume that they won't need to take notes or participate in a formal lesson during the first few days, but it's always a good idea to have a pen and paper just in case.
If this is your first semester with us, we encourage you to stop by one of our offices to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about the transition into the new school year when you arrive.

And just a reminder! Registration for fall classes is open until Sunday, October 12, so be sure to register as soon as possible to solidify your spot in the classes you need. For more information on registration, visit us at or contact us at (718) 261-5800 for our Queens campus or (718) 259-5300 for our Brooklyn campus today!
