This Summer, Bramson ORT College welcomed a talented group of international students from Kazakhstan as part of a collaboration with Edusoft and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS). The group consisted of top teachers, IT professionals, and designers. Students participated in one of the most intensive technology seminars that included training in Robotics, Mobile Applications, Video Production, After Effects, Web Design, and 3D Modeling and Animation in Maya. Students were able to learn new skills utilizing the latest industry standard video, animation, and design software, including Adobe Master Collection Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Autodesk Maya. In addition to learning hands-on digital skills, students had a chance to create their own robots. The seminar included workshops by experienced industry professionals and visits to top media technology and art museums such as The Museum of Moving Image. The curriculum included a combination of on-campus sessions and online distance learning courses. In an age where MOOCs and online courses are making educational headlines, Bramson ORT College is raising the bar in distance learning standards. The online courses consisted of original video tutorials led by faculty with industry experience. The students had great feedback and enjoyed their stay and training in New York City. The two weeks of intense on-campus learning was followed by a farewell dinner celebration in which the United Nations Counsellor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tleuzhan S. Seksenbay, congratulated the students, faculty and staff on their hard work. With big smiles on their faces, the top students departed for Kazakhstan to continue their distance learning portion the next day. They were all eager to use and share the knowledge they gained at Bramson ORT College at their professional jobs back at home. The hard part was saying goodbye!
